Paris, France – 1 June, 2024. EDP Sciences and the Société Française de Radioprotection (SFRP) are thrilled to announce that the journal Radioprotection will transition to Open Access (OA) under the Subscribe to Open (S2O) model in 2024. This move, made possible through subscriber backing and additional financial support from SFRP, reflects our ongoing commitment to enhancing accessibility to scientific research and fostering a more inclusive knowledge-sharing environment. An editorial has been published in Radioprotection, offering further insights into the background and implications of this significant transition to Open Access.
EDP Sciences decides against Open Access transition under S2O for Radioprotection in 2023

Paris, France, 18 May 2023: EDP Sciences and the Société Française de Radioprotection (SFRP) announced today that they have decided against transitioning Radioprotection to open access under Subscribe to Open (S2O) in 2023. Despite concerted efforts to promote the initiative and reach the required subscription threshold, the financial viability of the transition was not achieved at this time. This decision underscores the reality that open access for S2O journals is not guaranteed unless subscriptions are renewed.

Radioprotection becomes the eighth journal published by EDP Sciences to move to Subscribe-to-Open (S2O) and will also be online-only from 2023.
2021 Impact Factor – significant 57% increase

We are pleased to report that Radioprotection’s impact factor has increased by 57% to 1.589 (248/279 in Environmental Sciences, Q4). This is a very satisfying result and reflects the impact of the research published in Radioprotection on behalf of the Société Française de Radioprotection. In 2023, Radioprotection will also adopt the S2O open access model enabling wider dissemination of its radiological protection research.
